What is AAZK?
The American Association of Zoo Keepers is a national 501(c)3 non-profit organization comprised of zoo keepers and other people who are interested in the animal care field. AAZK began in 1967 at San Diego Zoo as a way for zoo keepers to continue their education and share their knowledge with peers. An important function of AAZK today is fundraising to support the professional development of its members as well as local, national, and international conservation organizations.
AAZK publications, conferences, and chapter activities at zoos provide zoo keepers with a means to exchange ideas and discuss relevant topics in the animal care field. The Animal Keepers’ Forum, the monthly journal of AAZK, is the principal vehicle for communication among keepers. Chapters also host annual fundraisers to raise awareness and donations for many different conservation projects.
There are over 100 local AAZK chapters throughout the US and Canada, and membership includes about 2,800 individuals at all levels of zoo staff as well as volunteers and students.To learn more about AAZK National or to become a member, visit www.aazk.org.

Lincoln Park AAZK is a Chicago area chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers. Our chapter was chartered in 1969, making us one of the oldest.
Lincoln Park AAZK Mission Statement: Dedicated to raising awareness for conservation and cultivating an appreciation for the animal care profession.
Lincoln Park AAZK is committed to professional development in the animal care field as well as supporting worthwhile conservation efforts. Our chapter hosts several annual fundraisers which help us foster the professional growth of our members by assisting with the costs to send them to conferences, classes and workshops pertaining to the animal care field. We also hold several events throughout the year to generate money and awareness for conservation as a commitment to protecting endangered habitats as well as the wild counterparts of the animals in our care.
